Livingston Area Parents of Multiples (LAPOM) was formed in 2004 to provide a resource to Livingston County Area families of twins, triplets and higher order multiples. LAPOM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are members of Multiples of America (formerly National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs,) which also supports triplet and higher order births.
Many of the founding members belonged to other multiples groups in surrounding communities. They recognized the need for such a group in Livingston County.
LAPOM focuses on making sure parents of multiples have the resources and support they need before and after the birth of their children. Parents of multiples often face different things than parents of singletons. LAPOM members can offer encouragement, advice and answer questions regarding bedrest, pre-term birth, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, neo-natal intensive care, breastfeeding and more.
Members with school-aged children have experienced issues such as special education, sibling rivalry, keeping together vs. separation of multiples in school and forming unique friendships, to name a few.
The club schedules play dates, special events, Ice Cream Socials, Holiday parties, and Mom’s and Dad's Night Out events.
